Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

Typically, I'm a fan of Cracker Barrel and this is "our" Cracker Barrel, the one closest to home, and they usually do well for a very high volume location. This trip, which was past the breakfast rush and before lunch time, proved to have really slow service and when the food came, mine breakfast seemed like it might have been sitting for a bit while the rest of the meal was prepared. Nothing really bad, but just not hot and fresh, like I'm used to. The service was pretty good with frequent refills on coffee, biscuits brought out early and friendly smiles.

I had the sampler plate. That came with ham, meat loaf, and and chicken and dumplings. My vegetables were Lima beans, green beans and turnip greens. All were very good. I had 2 meals from the amount I was served. Always a good choice.

Finally had to stop in and try the new fried chicken after seeing it on so many billboards and was not disappointed. Our server, Jens, was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond to take care of us.

The food was excellent. The service and waiter was not that great. Everything was great until our waiter came out only 2 times to our table. The guy was either in a bad mood or he really hates his job. Either way I love cracker barrel and the food. I still gave it 5 stars because the food is always amazing.

The meal was good and our server was obviously new, but all in all our family enjoyed our visit to Cracker Barrel. We were very patient with our server and thankfully not in a rush for our dinner, so it all work out well. I am sure that in a short amount of time our server will be less nervous and more confident with their job. We all were beginners once. This branch of Cracker Barrel is one of my favorites. I frequent it quite often.
