Food was good. I know hiring is hard right now. But 2 more wait staff would be beneficial. We were told they didn't have anymore corn muffins. Then the waitress brought some out. We asked for butter & was told they didn't have any for the muffins. I had the rib tips, mac & cheese, green beans all of it was delicious & hot. I'll be back.
So, I was curious about the big hype about this place... Now I don't get me wrong I'm all for supporting black owed restaurants.
But for almost a 4 hour wait... I could have made my own soul food plate. The baked chicken was not good at all & the only thing I really did enjoy was the Mac and cheese😁 the cabbage was really spicy. It was definitely not worth a 40 minute drive🤦🏾♀️
3 years ago my review was Great Soul food! Great service! But today, It took us 45 minutes to be seated. Then it took them an hour and a half to serve 1 appetizer. I think that our waiter forgot to put our order in, because the people seated across from us with a different waitress were receiving their orders promptly. The food was good, but the service sucked.
Loved it! The wait was long however we sat outside and had great drinks. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Marie our server was great at keeping us informed while we waited on food. The Mac and cheese was to die for. Get there as early as you can as the kitchen closed early and we didn't get to try the dessert we ordered because they had run out.
I would recommend this place for great soul food and would return.
Our party of three thought that every dish that came across the table was fantastic! You have to try the deep fried deviled eggs and the fried green tomatoes. One of my friends had the shrimp grits and the other had the chicken and French toast. They said it was delicious! My favorite was the collard greens. I have traveled all around the country eating greens and this by far was the best I've ever eaten! They've set a high bar! Thank you for your hospitality, incredible food and great service!!!
