The Chastain - New American Bistro

Certified Fresh. 5 Stars. It has a nice ambiance with good outdoor people watching scene. Simple, quiet leisurely morning after a Chastain Park walk to enjoy my chocolate croissant and hot tea!

We visited The Chastain last night for the first time and it was nothing short of exceptional!! The food was beyond delicious (with the steak tartare being my favorite) and the service was incredible!!! The environment was so lovely. We sat in the basement private dining area with a few other parties and loved the homey feel of it all. We truly cannot wait to dine here again. This will absolutely be a “go-to” spot for years to come. Thank you The Chastain!!!

The Chastain is exceptional! The design of the building exterior and interior does an excellent job of honoring the history of the location while updating it to a modern and stylish space. The food is fantastic as well. We have been multiple times for dinner and breakfast and each time the execution of food has been excellent and remarkably consistent for a new establishment. Dinner service is wonderful and I love the pastas and the steak was outstanding. Also, if you have not tried them for breakfast, go! I would highly recommend their breakfast counter, the pastries are all fresh and Brash coffee is fantastic. Really nice to enjoy by their fire pit.

Could not recommend this restaurant more and very excited to see how they evolve with more time and no pandemic.

I was extremely excited to give this a try considering the chef’s background in the industry. So to give a short and sweet response on my first experience, it was lacking in some ways and extraordinary in others. The food was delicious, for the most part. The pastas were fantastic, and the veggies in every dish, sublime. Very impressed in all aspects of every main course that was delivered to the table. Absolutely superb.

So, the food, phenomenal. The service... not so much. The waitstaff was certainly lacking the fine dining caliber that one would expect at an establishment like The Chastain. Our waitress did not introduce herself, had to be asked to give a run down of the menu, and lacked a sense of awareness (knocked into glasses with silver, took dishes and let silver slam on the table, mixed up seat numbers, did not know the wine varietals on the menu, did not go over the “farm-to-table” aspects of the menu except for the broccoli, etc.). Frankly, I think the performance of the staff really dialed down the wonderful food and experience. All in all, if this experience was executed with fine service, I would place it in the top tier of Atlanta restaurants. It has the potential, it just seems to have growing pains right now. I am giving 3 stars because of service alone. The food was divine.

Wonderful experience from the moment you get out of your ride at the valet stand. Polite hosts, friendly wait staff, and amazing chef, all of whom help to create a top notch dining experience. For the best time, I recommend reserving a table the day before to keep everything running smoothly.
