I really liked the set up and ambiance. My coworkers and I went during lunch. We ordered wings and red rice mainly. The wings were highly disappointing. I could not taste a drop of seasoning. They were not seasoned at all. This is one of the blackest cities ever, WE LIKE ARE SEASON SALT. The sauce drizzled on them was very good though. The red rice was just dry.The muffins were actually good, but you don't go to a restaurant just for bread. As far as customer service, it could be a little better. Ensure that patrons already have napkins and silverware. I HATE having to ask for these things at a restaurant. We also had to ask for the check. The restaurant is not that big, so the server should not feel overwhelmed. Overall, I think this would be a nice spot to grab a drink IF you get there early because space is very limited. It's not my thing but it's worth a try!
This is a really great place to go and get some wonderful food and great drinks. Our waiter William was really nice and suggested some things for us to try since it was our first time there. The manager Larry came over and gave us a little history on the place. We were told that on Saturdays they have a live artists come in around 9 p.m. We definitely will go back again. And the bathroom was super clean. The darker drink is Royal Flush. The white one is Virgil's Tea. Both were great.
The food was very good. We loved the egg rolls and the shrimp gravy, and the sweet potato cornbread. The fish was fried perfectly. The collards were a little sweet for our taste. There were a few challenges with the temperature of our food, the collards were cold, shrimp gravy was warm... and is there a small plate shortage because when food is dropped so should the plates and a set of clean plates would be appreciated. However, I would still recommend this bar and small plate establishment to other foodies and chefs. Congrats
The quality of the food and drinks are as good as the beautiful ambiance. I brought friends from out of town and they can't wait to come back.
Definitely great if you want an eclectic spot that's trendy and cool. Bring a friend or a date, you will have an amazing time.
A friend suggested this spot and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was fantastic; it was karaoke night. The wait staff is fabulous and food/ drink is excellent. It's low country cuisine..with a tapas vibe. You can share the plates if you're looking to taste a variety of items. The gullah egg rolls must be good because they were sold out of them which something I really looked forward to tasting.
We ordered the poke chop, fried shrimp, red rice, crab rice, collard greens and fried cabbage. As a starter we tried the sweet potato corn muffins and the oysters.
I know it sounds like a lot but again these are small plates.
Finally..I have to mention this because this isn't a huge spot so be prepared to wait.
