J. Mac's Island Restaurant

We are locals of SSI and have loved all of our time sent at JMaxs...Love the owners Jason&Summer! Food and pros in the kitchen and all the severs are awesome, GREAT Island Restaurant!

The atmosphere was nice enough but the smell was unpleasant. The food was horrible. I have never had worse lamb. It tasted as if it had been soaking in St. Simon's terribly treated public water. The spinach tasted about the same and my mashed potatoes tasted as if they were out of a box of instant potatoes. My girlfriend's meal was similar. Her shrimp tasted unclean or dirty. Her steak was seasoned poorly, was dry, and also tasted like the public water. Overall, the experience was terrible. We immediately went to Tramici's in an attempt to rectify the evening.

On a better note, the service was quite good and the waiter pleasant.

My fiance and I were visiting the island and looking for a nice place to grab dinner. Either I found J Macs on Google or a bartender recommended them, either way, we were so glad we went! We had an adorable and secluded little candlelit booth and there was a fun, talented pianist playing everything from classic standards to jazzed up covers of 90s songs. Food was great, and they make the best dry-and-diry martini I have ever had. We later went to The Ocean Club, which was pricer and reviewed higher, but that spot paled in comparison to the much more laid-back yet high-class J Macs.

Delicious food in a very fancy setting. A little pricey, but just worth it.
