Southern Soul Barbeque

I'll start by saying the pulled pork sandwich was phenomenal. And a sweet tea was very good. It must have just been an off afternoon. We were there kind of late for lunch around 2:30. There were just a couple of other folks there when we walked in to order. The initial experience was pleasant but the cashier seemed a little disconnected but it went well we placed our order went outside to wait. After that service was non-existent no how's it going you need anything can I get you a refill and even when I went to go inside for a refill I was ignored. The $8 pimento and cheese sandwich was horrible and the french fries were old cold and limp. We've been there several times before and actually today planned our trip to st. Simons Island around lunch here. We were disappointed this experience was not consistent with our past experiences. Everybody has bad days and I hope that's all it was. $28 lunch for two nothing special two sandwiches one order of fries one order coleslaw, a Diet Coke and a sweet tea.

Any place that you can smell while the plane is taxiing and makes you want to park it at their place is enticing. Quick service, friendly staff. Pulled pork was a little dry but tasty. Delicious sauces! I'll have to try the brisket next time, it looked great!

If you visit St. Simon's, you have to stop here for the BBQ. They stay busy so be ready for a slight wait, luckily they get you through the line pretty quick. The BBQ was amazing. The smoked chicken salad sandwich was the best I've ever had.
They have limited seating inside so I'd recommend to go when it's not too hot outside. All in all, we'll be coming back.

There's a reason this joint has such a high rating... And why Google has it listed on the 50 Best BBQ Restaurants in the US and a few other "Best BBQ" lists. I always check the brisket when I try a new BBQ place, and this was hands down the best brisket I've ever had. The fried okra - same thing - wasn't gooey, was nice and crispy. Collard greens were fresh and hot. Sauces were great. Cole slaw was fantastic - even had a little kick. Everything was wonderful. The rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. I would HIGHLY recommend any BBQ lovers to make the trip out here. Be prepared for a decent wait as the place gets packed. It opens at 11am and I was very happy we got here at 10:55 and got right in. The line died down around noon as we left.
