Ok, so the food was surprisingly enjoyable. I enjoyed it for the moment. It was comforting at best. Especially, if you're in the mood for something other than fast food. I give four stars and not five because the atmosphere was just okay, not someplace to stay too long. And the customer service was not welcoming. Enjoy.
We've eaten here for years. Let me begin by saying, the food is really good. I have had five star experiences here, days when the food is as close to perfection as food can get. I have noticed that when the owner isn't in the kitchen, the food slips a little. It isn't bad. When the owner is checking what comes out of the kitchen, I would put this place up against any around. When the owner isn't, it's only ok and occasionally disappointing.
On our last visit (owner not in the kitchen), we had two chickens over rice, a Chicago Gyro and a small Greek Salad.
The Chicago Gyro was great, unfortunately the pita was over grilled and snapped when folded...still, it was incredible. The Chicken over rice was perfectly seasoned, but the chicken was dry. And the Greek salad was served in a hinged plastic takeout container-I'd suggest not doing that for dine in; it makes one wonder how made fresh to order it is and leaves the diner with a tub of nothing but lettuce half way through. We had two cokes for the kids (we could tell one child's request for a refill irritated the young lady behind the counter and our other child was simply ignored until he gave up) and two waters. We don't drink soda. We also aren't fans of bottled water. I don't mind paying 25 cents for water, but I'd love it if it were a nice cup of filtered ice water
Finally, a note on the atmosphere. It has gone from charming to a bit off-putting. It once had sort of a retail shop in the dining area. It hasn't been kept up and now looks like laundry hanging on the wall. The dining area doesn't need anything new, but some of the clothing, fake flowers, and posters are probably due to come down.
Ultimately, I'm rooting for this place. It often serves tremendous food at good prices. I genuinely hope it is not in decline.
Friend introduced me to this place, and it's one of the best gyros I have ever had. When you've got that craving for something out of the norm, go here. Staff is friendly, food is cooked fresh to order, and it's delicious. You can't go wrong
A definite value for the price! We had a Chicago Gyro, regular Gyro and a Gyro salad. The Chicago could feed two children or a large adult! The salad was large-sized, also. All three were delicious!
Service was just OK, nothing special - not friendly, just polite.
This is an amazing find!! The Greek and Mediterranean food is cooked to order, fresh, wonderfully seasoned, authentic, and plentiful. The prices are great for what you are served. They have a unique business concept that rely on word of mouth and customer social media to share the good news about their food. The space is lovely, colorful and filled with cultural decor. Order your food at the counter and wait at your table to be called while you RELAX. Love this place!
