Best BBQ in Georgia. Love the meats and sides. Perfectly smoked (hickory is how we do it in the south BTW), tender moist meats, NEVER any fat because the owners trim the meat to be very lean. The portions are very generous. Staff is friendly and helpful and the place is spotless. I eat at Sherry's at least once a week and the food is consistently good. Only wish they didn't close on Mondays.

I am always amazed at the different view points that people have when it comes to food. But no food group amazes me more than peoples thoughts about bbq. True enough, in different areas of the country, “good” bbq means something different. But, when all those differing opinions are examined, it’s easy to conclude that “good” is regional.

Good “IS” regional, but bad is universal. And for someone who grew up with the BBQ King of Texas (Jerry Mikeska), bad is easy to see.

Having said that, it is easy for me to classify Sherry’s as just plain bad. Unimaginative, and poorly prepared. I’ve driven by this place many times. I always admired their location but wondered about pairing bait and bbq. Perhaps they’re onto something with this business model, but hopefully the bait is better than the food.

I stopped in recently and had the brisket plate. A whopping 5 oz of dry, salty, fatty brisket that was very unappetizing. For $14. Whoever is smoking their brisket should get educated in the differences between good smoke and bad smoke. In case they’re reading, let me help. White smoke? Good! Black or dark smoke? Bad!

Eating this brisket was like eating salty creosote. And they use hickory for their smoke which is also WRONG. Hickory is great for certain items but not for beef, chicken or pork. These items require long exposure to smoke and hickory is too “spicy” for deep penetration items. Fish and hickory are great together.

I hope this helps. I don’t want to total break this place down. All I tried was the brisket, beans and potato salad. The potato salad was the highlight. If you are looking for truly great bbq though, take a trip to Atlanta and visit Fox Brothers. You won’t be disappointed.

Great service & food. We had the pulled pork with coleslaw & green beans. Served promptly and decent portions at a good price. Will be back!
