A varied experience. Food was delicious, except the dirty rice was very undercooked. I especially liked the plantains and the mac and cheese.
We had dinner reservations for a large group, and several of our seats were non-existent. They didn't factor in that children needed a place to sit, so me, my husband, and all of our kids were left standing (crawling, climbing) around while the adults were seated and chairs were fetched from upstairs. The table we were seated at was unstable and the top was attached to the crooked leg with duct tape. We received only plates and forks while everyone else in our group had those as well as drinks, napkins, and knives. We had to stop a server and request the rest of these things. Another person in our group saw a server drop 3 desserts, walk back to the kitchen with them, then turn around and serve them...Some of the servers seemed very inexperienced, others were great.
It's hard to rate this place. I say 5 for the food, 3 for service, 4 overall.
If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up! Thanks!
Good food and friendly staff. We'd definitely return for more of the fare!
After being shunned by a previous place for having my kids with me, we decided to try this place. Service was AMAZING, kid-friendly, and food was DELICIOUS!
My wife and I dined here for the first time relatively early on a Wednesday evening, and had the opportunity to be the only guests in the room at the beginning and end of our meal (one other couple arrived after us and left before us). This may have contributed to our exceptionally attentive service, given the low demand for the staff's attention, but I'd like to think our exceptionally winsome server, Tyler, would do an amazing job no matter the number of diners.
In addition to the superior customer service experience, we enjoyed good food and a pleasant, somewhat casual atmosphere. My wife's farmhouse salad with chicken was tasty and well-prepared, with a delicious house dressing. My fish tacos were ordered blackened and were good, but I would probably ordered the grilled or fried variety in the future, as the blackening spices were more salty than I prefer personally. I did like the rice, black beans, and fried plantains that came as sides- all served very hot, which I like.
We splurged on dessert, ordering chocolate cake and peach cobbler, both with ice cream. The cake was good, not exceptional, but the cobbler was probably closer in substance to a bread pudding in appearance and consistency than an actual cobbler (though I'm sure we could have a lot of diverse opinions on this). Had I been prepared for a peach bread pudding, I would have said this dessert was fantastic, but my expectations of a more traditional cobbler left me slightly disappointed in this otherwise tasty treat.
