The Crab Hut

Wow! So, we live on Lake Oconee, which is about 35-40 minutes away from The Crab Hut...but I drive to Athens once a week. I noticed TCH a few weeks ago, on my way home. I've always wanted to stop, but my husband plays poker on those nights, so I've not had the opportunity (b/c I didn't want the food to sit & wait on him to get home). Lo & behold, he called this evening as I was coming through Watkinsville, asking about dinner! I went straight to The Crab Hut! The owner was SO helpful in helping me decide what to get...I ordered two (2) All Hands On Deck platters (they're much larger than a typical platter), added two lobster tails, so everyone had their own tail, and a bowl of gumbo, simply because I love gumbo. Everything was made FRESH TO ORDER!! Down to the potatoes and corn!!! It took about 15 minutes to complete the order. They packaged the food extremely nice, so there was no spillage, etc. I drove 45 minutes home & everything was still super hot and fresh! No seafood was rubbery, the dices were perfect, the gumbo was beautiful, just a little salty. Staff were above and beyond nice! This will now be a regular Tuesday dinner for us!! 10 out of 10, for sure!!!

Delicious, nice portions. I had the fried oyster basket, and the oysters were buttery soft.

A bit overpriced for what you get. Good amount of fries not enough shrimp on the PoBoy. Flavor wasn’t bad but wasn’t special. Place was clean staff was nice.

Lots of seafood options. I think anything you try will be good here. Snow club clusters with Cajun flavor were excellent but i could have used a crab fork. Will likely return when we’re in the area.

This was our first time here. Great food. Really enjoyed it.
