Kinorhook Bar BQ

This is a real deal backwoods southern BBQ joint. Off the highway in the actual woods. Looks sketchy but OMG, the owner is a lovely man who used to be a county commissioner, and the food is great. Five stars for the pulled pork and pulled turkey. Sat around talking economics and politics with the owner and his neighbor who dropped by. Well worth the detour.

Their new location in Eatonton across the street from the Uncle Remus museum opened last month and I go whenever I can. The pulled pork sandwiches are awesome!

Very laid-back family-run place. In fact, you'll see a lot of their family if you go. Its always slow. Kinda like you popped in to someone's house or something.If you have a grandmother that always cooks no matter when you drop by, its like that. You can order at the counter by the door for take out or eat-in and then go wait in the dining room until its ready.

You probably won't ever have the kind of BBQ anywhere else. He has hit on a sauce that is unique and matches pork very well. It is very different from the kind of BBQ I like and I like it all the same. The sides are excellent, soul, comfort food dishes. All very good.
