Abel Brown Southern Kitchen & Oyster Bar

I am from out of town and a friend suggested this place. The portions were large and filling. The waitress was really nice and the food was great. Two people of my party had the shrimp and grits and the portions were large and they said it was super fresh and delicious. I had the ribeye steak medium. It was so tender and juicy. Even the appetizers was flavorful. They had fried lemons. I thought I heard wrong but they were sooo good as well. Will be back.

Excellent selection of oysters, great service. Their raw oysters were fresh and tasty. Excellent ice tea and mixed drinks. The waitress was prompt and courteous . The fried oysters and oysters Rockefeller were not very good hence the missing star.

Food & service were great. However, management is questionable. Reservations for a table in a room made a year ago for a graduation party and confirmed 3 months ago. Imagine our surprise when we were stuck at a bar top table for 11 in the middle of the super loud, crowded bar area because the restaurant had sold that room out from underneath us. But no phone calls so that alternate arrangements could have been made. To make matters worse, we had an 80 year old in the party who had recently had a hip replacement. This was bad form. No restaurant should ever do that. Especially of that "caliber"!?

Food was delicious, portions were smaller than other places but seemed appropriate. Service was great, friendly and knowledgeable. Oysters were fresh, and their Chocolate Bread Pudding was fantastic. Will definitely go back. Atmosphere is comfortable and casual but clean and well designed.

Best Shrimp and Grits in town. We love going here for special occasions. The service is always great and the food delish. I like ordering from their specials when I stray away from the shrimp and grits. The desserts are always divine as well.
