This place makes awesome Chinese food. Everything we ordered was great. The gau gee were perfect - not too thin or thick, filled to capacty, and not served too hot so you didn't have to wait before enjoying them. The service was outstanding, and the waiting time wasn't long at all.
Good food for a reasonable price
When you don't have anything nice to SAY.... DON'T.
Having been born, raised here in the islands and of Chinese descent, I don't have many favorite Chinese restaurants. Having lived on the mainland and been a cross-country trucker, I DIDN'T much care for the Americanized Chinese cuisine with only 2 or 3 main sauses. So if you fancy yourself a foodie expert & critic in Americanized Chinese food... STOP READING. THIS PLACE, ITS MENU AND THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE DISCERNABLE HAWAII LOCAL PALATE.
If you are visiting or staying at BNB's in the Kailua Area on the Island of Oahu and want to experience as close to Cantonese dishes as you dare...THEN look up the website and their menu items. My grandpa would take his entire ohana( his, hers and ours. 16 kids and 20-40 grandkids) to the Mui Kai chop suey in Kaneohe. This is comfort food review from a local boys perspective and the only other Chinese restaurant I would recommend is Kin Wah also in Kaneohe. As for their food New Mui Kwai makes the grade and worthy of mention. WEBSITE has the item # and prices.
Today's order: Crispy Gauge Gee, Beef vegetables Chow mein, Egg Foo Young, Crispy Roast pork, Kau yuk w/ bun, cold Ginger chicken, fishcake rice soup, shrimp Canton, Beef broccoli, roast duck. They added rice cake and gindoi.
The ONLY REASON I"M GIVING 4 STARS is I haven't eaten in their restaurant yet. I'm a 24/7 CAREGIVER to my terminally ill dad, hence I have no review for the dining-in experience and no fifth star until then. But the ease of looking up menu on the web, mapping on most apps for directions, comparable menu prices and #'d items help with not miscommunicating call-in orders( If don't use it, you're the idiot) and growing up with good local version of Chinese cuisine. not that Americanized cusine they try to pass as Chinese food on the mainland and here at some places gets a 4 STAR RATING from me. Take it or leave it, makes no matter to me. But they've impressed me enough to WRITE THIS LONG REVIEW and if you read this far, maybe they will impress you too if you dare to go.
