Big Grove Tavern

Very well designed place. Definitely gives off the “tavern” vibe and overall feels nice to be in. Unfortunately attending in the evening is difficult as the lighting is quite poor. In some of the window booths I had to strain my eyes to just read the menu. I understand the reasoning behind it but I think it’s a little too dim. The food was alright, although one member of my party had a burger that tasted as though it was cooked on a dirty grill. Luckily the service was fine and we were even accommodated a brighter table setting when ours was too dark. Apart from the food and setting, the place was kept clean and the bathrooms were as well.

I have only been there for Sunday brunch. The food is extremely good and the paroi is nice when it is open. Inside it is so tightly packed that it is fire hazard.

We tried the burgers. I had Tex max & soup. Amazing! Youngin had Hickory burger & fries. Amazing! Recommend stopping when your in the area. Great food & wonderful friendly service!

To me, it is a fancy restaurant in Champaign downtown. The vibe was good enough to eat out with my friends at Friday night, but it would be a bit loud for dating.
The menus are creative. I did not try that many; but I can say the taste is just good not super in general. I can recommend Mushroom Risotto. The Chicken Mole which my friend had looked interesting.
One down side is the price. An Entree begins at 16 and can go easily over 20 per dish.
If I come again, it would be because of the vibe not for the food.

Big Grove Tavern was a great place to visit in Champaign. It was our daughter's request for brunch after church and she said it was her favorite. We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent and our waitress was terrific! We'll definitely be going there again!
