Shanghai Inn Restaurant

Love this place, travel far to eat at Shanghai but it's worth it, generous portions well worth the money- been eating here for years and of course even after moving to Vernon Hills, unable to find a Chinese restaurant in the suburbs that are authentically delicious, I drive over 100 miles round trip to make the visit but as said - well worth it! They've changed nothing, still stick to the authenticity of Asian cooking. One of my favorites is the egg roll, it's on the smaller size now but it's still got that peanut buttery taste to it, and the potstickers are so YUMMY! The dough isn't insanely thick with very little piece of meat on the inside like most restaurants do these days. I give Shanghai top stars for the tasty food.

Cantonese style food. A bit tame for my tastes but if you like Cantonese food you may enjoy it.

Shanghai is amazing. And it’s my gold standard for Chinese food. My family has been going to Shanghai since they were located around the corner on Lawrence Ave. This family owned place has been consistently creating amazing dishes that keeps our family coming back time and time again.

Paid street parking. I ordered the chicken egg foo young and chicken fried rice. The egg foo young was okay but I won't order it again. The fried rice was better but I'll probably do the vegetable fried rice next time and also order something else to taste. It's just really hard to find a place that makes good egg foo young. This was my first time there. The inside could use some updates.

Excellent chinese food. I don't travel to Chicago often otherwise I would come here more often. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the owner helped me decide which dish to try, between the Mongolian Beef and the Beef with Garlic sauce. I chose the latter and it was delicious, I would definitely recommend.
