Probably the only place you will find true authentic Ethiopian Cuisine in Chicago. Our team was in Chicago recently to shoot a Television program when we googled African cuisine, and pops up Selam Ethiopian Kitchen. We were Not disappointed. Food was excellent, service can use a teach or two. The setting was Resturant/Bar. Good for casual dinner and drink. Excellent Ethiopian music in the background. Check it out.

My favorite restourant in Chicago at the moment, the best tartare in Chicago, huge portion for the money, not like other spots where you buy tartare and it's a tiny overpriced portion, and this tartare is seasoned in their authentic Ethiopian butter and seasonings unlike any you tried before and if you're like me and like to eat raw you can chose to have it and eat it raw like Ethiopian do or you can have it rare, it's called Kitfo....this is real authentic, it has 3 raw meat dishes you can try, unlike other Ethiopian restourants that try to cater to Americans this one is genuine, it's even a small meat market, you can purchase high quality meat for fair price and you can also buy green Ethiopian coffee beans to roast at home, coffee originates from there so this is some of the best coffee I tried....basically this is a little unknown spot of the highest quality, an experiance, you have to make a visit here if you're in Chicago, awsome service, the chef really cares about the food and will gladly explain everything to you, ask away, amazing spot!!!!! Follow me on Instagram @Thefirstoneofmykind, I have video there of my experiance at this place
Must have caught the restaurant on an off weekend night, if that's a thing, because the service was abysmally slow despite our group of 4 being one of only two tables of patrons in the entire restaurant.
Food was quite good, but the awful service dragged down the overall experience.
The food was awesome. This place comes highly recommended. The restaurant itself wasn’t the cleanest of places but the food more than made up for it.
A great restaurant in uptown, a wonderful atmosphere with great hosts and awesome food! If you're in town and looking for something new to try this is definitely the place to go.
