El Ideas may very well be a special occasion restaurant for most people due to it's price points. Which is sad if you can't afford to eat there every week. It's sad because it's truly a unique and fun dining experience that I wanted to repeat the second I finished the last bite. In a lot of ways El Ideas is what every restaurant should be, part theater, part dining, 100% fun. When you hop aboard the 'El', you get on a gastronomic train ride with Chef/owner Phillip Foss and CDC Catherine Price as your conductors. They weave you through numerous courses and encourage getting up and checking out what's happening in the kitchen or talking with the tables next to you. I don't get to Chicago often but a stop at El Ideas will always be on the menu.
Excellent experience, the best tasting menu I’ve had in Chicago. Simplistic, creative, tasteful, and very relaxed and laid back atmosphere and service that made the dining comfortable and fun. Would highly recommend
I have been here many times with large groups (which I recommend due to BYO) and it is truly one of the best dining experiences in Chicago or anywhere else. I've been to 36 Michelin starred restaurants so I have a good basis for comparison and this is among the top anywhere. Bill (front of the house) is pretty much the best in the industry. I love how everyone eats at the same time and the stories that go along with each dish. Even though you are drawn into the dishes because of their creativity, you go back because of the flavor. Everything is on point.
One of the top 3 dining experiences I've ever had. Bring your best ???????? and have a one-of-a-kind evening on a date or in a group.
Great innovation in new American food. It is more of a fusion in American with French and east Asian food. Like the name suggested, it is the ideas behind the foods that attract people. Fun experience with open concept western style cooking. Will come back if I'm visiting Chicago again. A well deserved Michelin star restaurant.
