Mordecai

We were looking for a respite from the crowds after the game when we were lucky enough to stumble upon this place. We really enjoyed the unique experience. Open and welcoming, yet clean and with an upscale feel. The menu was a bit daring for us but we were all pleased with our selections.

Unfortunately 3 stars is the best I can give this place. My wife and I went and it really only has great ambiance. The service was 3 stars and the price - compared to the food, was too high. For example, the cheese plate they have for dessert is an assortment of 4 hard cheeses. To pay $15 dollars for a chuck of Cheddar is rather underwhelming.

Been to Mordecai five times over the last year and a half and each time seemed to be better than the last. I've never had a bad experience. Quite the opposite, each time I walked away feeling like I had a wonderful experience. The food, the attentive and friendly service (tonight was Kris; thanks Kris), both spot on each and every time.

Tonight, I went with my girlfriend and another couple. It was their first time, and they were blown away. One of them literally "wowed" on the steak and the other one on the chocolate cheesecake. Personally, the sea bass beans and beignets were my favorite.

It's not cheap (though it ranges from a $16 burger to $38 steak), but that's reasonable for the quality of flavor and service. This is a perfect splurge for a special date night or special occasion dinner.

Excellent service. Very good food. Upscale vibe, but still comfortable.

Absolutely great experience. Kris took very good care of us. Order the chicken! Even the coffee is amazing.
