The Piggery Cuban is a Pork Lovers Dream. And as simple as it my seem the Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup was a winner in my book. The service and the atmosphere was A-1, I guess being a Football junkie played a part in the love of this place, ga.es on all screens all over the restaurant!
Great food. Huge Cuban sandwich was delicious. Excellent service. Parking was tough but expected.
Food is just OK. It used to be a lot better. The ribs are tough to get the meat off the bone. Like really stuck on the bone no matter how hard you chew on it. The French onion soup has a real funky flavor like they are using strange flavored croutons or something. ????
Solid food and drink menu. It's a sports bar, so keep in mind that this is it's primary thing. Great for Cubs games as well as Big 10. This time around my ribs were a bit dry, but I've had them before when they were more juicy. All around a very solid neighborhood spot.
The Piggery is a fun atmosphere for watching the game with pretty good drinks. But the food is pretty bland.
We started out with the nachos and the fried pickles. The pickles turned out to be the best part of the meal. I had the Badger Burger, which was at once under seasoned and oddly sweet due to the caramelized onions. My girlfriend had the French Onion Soup. Again unseasoned, and the broth tasted like basic onion water. She ordered the tacos, with various unseasoned fillings (I sense a trend...). Other friends didn't go into detail on their food, but weren't terribly impressed either.
Our server was pretty nice. He took the French Onion Soup off our bill since it sat uneaten. At the end of our meal, he offered us shots. We declined. But he said they were on him, so we ordered a round. Then he came back and said the manager wouldn't let him give us shots because we hadn't spent enough money. I don't care about not having shots that we didn't ask for in the first place. But the whole episode left us feeling odd.
I guess we might go back to watch a game and have a couple drinks. But there are certainly better options that include good food.
