Wow- I have been to this comfortable neighborhood restaurant in Little Italy at least 10 times. I keep thinking I will eventually get a meal that I absolutely don’t love. No way. Our recent dinner on Sunday was perfect. I had the comforting cream of red pepper soup to begin with followed by the tube pasta with perfectly prepared short rib pasta sauce which was of course amazing. One of our diners had the special, which was gnocchi in basically a pizza crust bowl. What a great idea and as always very flavorful.

They also have a decent beer selection for an Italian restaurant and a very solid selection of wines.

Always my top Italian restaurant pick in Chicago, which has so many good restaurants to choose from!

The food here is fantastic but the last time we were here, we had terrible service. After being seated for approximately 10 minutes, we waved down the waiter to place an order. “Oh, are you in a rush?”, he asked. Pause. “I’m in a rush too” he said. He stopped by 1 time during dinner to ask how the food was but never offered to fill our drinks. At the end of the night, we asked for two scoops of vanilla gelato (their gelato servings come with two scoops), but were brought out 4 scoops of gelato on two plates. After explaining that we only wanted two scoops, our waiter replied that he was convinced we ordered 2 orders of 2 scoops of gelato. He finally agreed to comp the second order. Very poor service. Very frustrating night. But good food.

Delicious desserts. Nice atmosphere. Arrived a little after 11:30am and seated right away. Bread and oil is delicious. Calamari is a good starter option. Friendly staff.

We live south in the city, but the food here is so worth the drive. And the libations are awesome. Kudos to the servers and the bar staff. You guys ROCK!
