We have been going to Circle Sushi & Grill for dinner before our Steppenwolf theatre performances for several years. My husband eats the sushi, and I like the Panang curry and Pad Thai. We love their free BYOB service, too! The sushi dishes are beautifully and artistically presented (especially the OMG), and the wait staff is very attentive and efficient.
Circle is hands-down one of my favorite sushi spots in Chicago. The fish to rice ratio is perfect and the signature rolls are tasty. Always finding myself "rolling" on in!
Charming sushi spot in Lincoln Park. Friendly service. Great variety on menu. BYOB.
I like the location of this place. It’s in Lincoln Park- right when you get off the red line, right across the street and a few steps down. The inside it’s pretty intimate and small. It wasn’t busy when I walked in so I was happy about that. The man who greeted me and took my order was extremely nice. He told me my estimated time and offered me water while I waited.
I ordered an 6/8 piece sushi roll and their Circle fried rice (I’m sure I butchered the name, but it’s for about $11 and has shrimp, chicken, cashews, pineapple, veggies, and fried egg with a lime wedge on the side). I paid about $20 pre tip which was reasonable for what I got. The food was good and I especially loved the rice with the lime.
I haven’t been to many Chinese locations here in Chicago as of yet but so far this is my favorite place to get fried rice. It tastes like how fried rice SHOULD taste. I can’t really explain it but most all of the Chinese locations I’ve been to has fried rice that tastes... generic and not authentic. It has to be the ingredients and their method of cooking that throws me off each time.
But so far this is my number one spot to get fried rice. I’ll see how it holds up when I finally make it to Chinatown restaurants.
