Tacos Villa

This is the best Mexican food in Chicago. You would not think it by looking at the place. They don't have tables -- only a lunch counter. But the food is quite amazing. Don't order a burrito -- ask that the specials are. They always have specials and they are all really, really good. Try the shrimp on rice. (The cook always makes shrimp cooked just perfectly -- not underdone, but also never hard.) The spare ribs are always delicious. The sopes are made from scratch (no packaged sope base -- they start with dough) and are crispy, flavorful adventure to eat. If you drive by a number of times you'll see something odd -- restaurants around Tacos Villa are always empty, and Tacos Villa is always full. There's a reason: they're fantastic.

Growing up, my dad would take me here to eat. Years later,now I’m bringing my daughter and my husband here to eat as well! Awesome food & awesome people!

Been coming here for years because we love the authentic Mexican food and the owners are the best. Everytime my parents come from California they want to come and have breakfast here. Recommended to everyone, get early because limited sitting.
