This is the busiest restaurant on the south side on Sundays. It has been here for many decades, an institution. Be prepared to wait if that is your day of choice. The proportions for a breakfast or lunch meal are gargantuan and the food is tasty as well. Prices very middle of the road and for what you get, (you will be taking some home in a box) very reasonable. Watch out for the sunday crowd.,
We liked it. Our food was good. We got breakfast for lunch. Hubby got a spicy skillet and it was spicy! Nothing to complain about, but no raves, either. They were very busy, but once our order was taken, our food came quickly.
Family owned for over a century. Good food. Nice size portions. Down home. Modest. Friendly. Good customer service.
I hope my second visit will offer faster service after they move across the street to their new facility. The food was great. The attire of the workers needs to be a bit more 'professional'.
Daley's is a Chicago staple and though I've lived here my entire life, never been inside. We truck in for breakfast one morning and it was definitely a welcomed blast to the past. Set up like an original diner with low booths, a cashier at the door, and full kitchen in the back with a stooped counter. I immediately felt like I was going to be fed well. Like my Grandmother was somewhere in the kitchen and she was gonna to make sure I left stuffed. ????
I was right. The staff were a team of mature women who seemed like they've been doing their jobs forever. They moved swiftly, smooth, and purposefully. Just like a Mom and Grandmom. The food came out quick, hot, and delicious. The salmon croquettes...melt my heart. My honey likes the HUGE in-house made Turkey Sausage patties on Texas toast with eggs. It's all so yummy.
We left a tip and paid at the front door. The cashier is a friendly older woman to tells you to seat yourself when you walk in and to be blessed when you walk out. We've been back 3 times since our first experience 2 months ago.
