El Gordo Restaurant

Nothing fancy but ???? great Mexican food, good portions for the money. Burritos are huge, one of my favorites in Chicago, even the refried beans are good. Street parking, with small lot in back, full liquor bar!

The Plaza Mayor is stunning & loving our apartment too. Stopped for a late lunch in the plaza at El Gordo and had pickled aubergine, cod with red peppers and meat with green peppers washed down with vino blanco - it was all great! The owner was really helpful and explained what each tapas dish was.

Standard prices for food however the portions are very generous and delicious! They give you so much meat for your tacos if you order 3 you could probably make 4 out of it. The margaritas are fantastic! Generous amount of tequila and they taste amazing! Highly recommend the mango margarita, I like them all but mango is always my favorite and it tastes so fresh! Staff is so friendly and attentive, this is my favorite place for tacos and drinks.

Being Mexican and growing up eating nothing but Mexican food, it is very difficult to eat our food elsewhere. But this, THIS restaurant was over the top delicious!! I loved it and I will be back. Their portions are generous and tasty. Our waitress was nice and attentive as well. Overall, it was a good experience ????
