This ihop is the best one in Chicago. No issues whatsoever, it was pretty slow when my fiancé and I ate, and the food was amazing. The hash browns weren’t burnt, the eggs were fresh, and the pancakes were fluffy. I recommend this one over all the others.
When I got there I thought it was going to be a long wait because of all the people crammed in the waiting area. But the hostess worked so efficiently that I only had to wait 10 minutes on a busy Sunday morning.
We were seated at a clean table and we got our drinks right away. When the waitress came over to take our order we had been too busy catching up. She was so understanding that we needed extra time.
She treated my four-year-old like an actual customer. I always love it when a waitress makes an effort to try and have the child order for themselves.
When we left, we asked for extra condiments and plastic-ware. They were more than happy to help. I have been to places where they look at you like your stealing. I felt very welcome and will definitely go back when I go to Chicago again.
On 1/20/19 about 2pm, while waiting for a table, I asked a waitress if she knew there were empty tables. She responded nastily and sarcastically. Another customer witnessed her behavior and commented to me about it.
Then, a waiter (whose name I think is Steven) gave me a very hateful and aggressive scowl.
Also, a customer asked different waiter a question seemingly about his food he was waiting on.The customer did not feel the waiter answered his question adequately and persisted in asking it. The waiter was nice, but did not answer the question to the customer's satisfaction. "Steven", authoritatively and disrespectfully JUMPED in, responding to the customer's question. The customer calmly and respectfully told him that he was not talking to him. Steven, THEN, told the customer, "If you keep talking, we will have to ask you to leave"!
I told the manager (who's name I think is Gabriel and who said he had heard this altercation) that Steven was very aggressive and how the young waitress was very disrespectful. The manager nicely told me that he would talk to Steven and handle the matters. After he talked to him and walked away, Steven, STILL fuming inside, walked away uncontrollably tense, aggressive, scowling, and now throwing a towel on the counter.
A different waitress who served me was nice and checked on me and her other customers. She did not, though, take away the used dishes on my small table for one and fill my water (without me asking) while I ate. I still gave her a nice tip.
I rated my experience, at IHOP, 3760 N Halsted, Chgo., 3 stars (which would have otherwise been 1) for the manager's concern and my waitress's niceness. Based on your other ratings, do better and be more consistent, 3760.
