Overall a great experience! The food was delicious and well seasoned. Could have definitely fooled me on some of the dairy and meat replacements. As a meat eater, I did not leave Bloom feeling like I missed out on anything. The potatoes and beet flatbread were the favorites of the night. Would recommend to anyone regardless of diet.
I’ve been vegan for 6+ years and I have to say this is my favorite restaurant yet! Really amazing food and worth every penny. Every dish is perfectly seasoned and balanced, and you feel good after eating it.
Bloom was an interesting experience. The food was tasty and very well presented. What frustrated me dining experience. We made a reservation for 8:30 on a Thursday and immediately upon talking to the host, we were old that the kitchen will be closing soon, so if we want to eat we should order our food as quick as we can. Once sitting down we were told this fact again by our server. This wasn't the best tone for the start of the meal. I understand they were just letting us know, but then don't allow people to book an 8:30 reservation. Everything about the dining experience felt rushed and uncomfortable. We were asked multiple time by different employees if we were done eating, and if the should take our plates away. I assume this wouldn't have happened if we were there at an earlier time. Other than that, no issues with the food, when asked what kale caviar is, I was told caviar made from kale, f me. Also, I thought the Gin theme was different, and when asked why Gin, the answer was that it had the right vibe. I will not be asking any more questions.
Update: Bloom continues to thrive. It has become one of our favorite restaurants, and a must-visit when we have guests in town. There is always a pleasantly sized crowd here and good spirit fron staff and patrons. The menu changes often, and drinks are fun and delicious!
Original Review: Ahhh we've been anticipating this restaurant for a while now. It lives up to our expectations! Bloom breaks the mold of Chicago vegan dining with lots of fresh whole foods and unique options. Plating is beautiful. Flavor is wonderful. Will certainly be back.
We had the best time here! My wife eats gluten free, and Chicago was missing a 100% gluten free restaurant for dinner until Bloom came to town. The food was also delicious. The buffalo cauliflower and gnocchi were our favorite dishes. And our server Allen was amazing! So knowledgeable about the menu and had the best recommendations. We will definitely be back (maybe weekly?? It was that good!)
