DELICIOUS! An all-vegan taco counter serving mushroom-featured Mexican food. Everything is freshly prepared, ingredients are all fresh (veggies crunchy and bursting with flavor), and the food came out quickly. I had the three mushroom-taco flight and cannot honestly pick a favorite from the trio. One of them was stuffed with red Cabbage and smoked mushrooms, one had fried potatoes and grilled poblano peppers, and the other was a mixture of fresh peppers and onions with the mushrooms.
The stand is located in what is essentially a vegan food hall and I wish it was both closer and I was hungrier so I could’ve tried more items. And there’s also a vegan bodega in the food court so this is a must-go destination for all vegans!
It’s so nice to have a vegetarian taco place nearby! We really enjoyed the variety of items, fresh ingredients, spicy salsa and friendly service. Next time, I will come for the pozole ☺️
The best taco place my husband and I have tried in Chicago (vegan/ non vegan). Everything is delicious. They use the freshest Ingredients. It's high quality and not just fried food. The best!
Food was good! I got the taco platter, In order from left to right, it's the magico, Porta, Rojas. I enjoyed the third the most then the middle.
Cost is $6 per taco which is par for the fare. Fuller taco than most comparable places.
Environment is nice, service is typical.
Located on the main floor of X-Market, you will find a vegetarian/vegan friendly food court. One of the best spots to check out is El Hongo Magico. We visited this past Saturday mainly because they offer Pozole, I love Pozole but because I'm a vegetarian hard to come across a vegetarian friendly, delicious one. This one delivered (fyi available on weekends only) is flavorful, with a wonderful kick, the hominy and mushroom were delightfully balanced. We also tried the taco flight, because who can decide? All 3 were flavorful and delivered a nice flavor profile that one can expect with Mexican food. We also tried their newest appetizer beet tartar which was delicious, served with fresh flour chips. The drink of choice - hibiscus water that was not overly sweet and paired perfectly with our food. Plenty of parking on the lower level and best part its free. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for Mexican vegetarian friendly options. No complaints about the service-staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their food. Will definitely return!
