Paul is seriously so awesome. He made amazing cocktails, and we had some great conversation. I’ve picked up bagels, a pastrami sandwich, and a cappuccino before, but have never sat at the bar or ate inside. I work right around the corner and now have to make sure all my coworkers stop by! I know I’ll be coming back.
Ordered food ahead for pick-up but also ordered a couple of drinks while waiting. Nice open view of the kitchen. Not your typical bagel spot as the quality of food goes above and beyond, and the menu and flavors are very unique. Friendly staff on deck who provided some insight on the restaurant and its future plans. Also randomly assisted in a blind tasting test for Bloody Mary mix. Will come back to try other handmade bagels and labneh!
Wonderful sandwiches. The bread and all ingredients are top quality. Great pickles. Can't wait to try the bagels. Friendly staff and well spaced out for indoor dining.
Bagels are an integral part of my culture and played a huge role in my upbringing. They're a connection to my family and my heritage. Discovering a new bagel is always reason for celebration and Chicago is home to many a good bagel, especially in recent years as certain niche foods have been pushed into the mainstream.
Rye Deli + Drink bakes some of the best bagels I've had in my life, anywhere in the world. They leave the competition in the dust. Period. Hard stop. Where other places try to sell their product using buzz words and advertising their special patented "New York water", Rye Deli simply offers a flawless, fresh, crusty on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside ring of pure bliss.
Their service is top notch too and you can tell they genuinely care about their food and improving everyday.
Give them a shot and you won't regret it!
Rye Deli & Drink is a stellar addition to Chicago and the West Loop neighborhood. Not too far off the infamous Randolph Row of restaurants, Rye is situated close to the Greektown and the great restaurants like Greek Islands. Rye Deli delivers a delicious and new spin on the traditional deli bringing Bagels, smoked meats and creative cocktails. Sounds good right? It is! I knew I had try the smoked meats and my wife loves bagels so call it is match made. The food was definitely impressive and unique too. I enjoyed the smoked Turkey on Pita and got two bagels, Everything and Poppy. From the bagels to the smoked meat, I would say it has a lot of similarity to Montreal style, which is a good thing. They also threw in a taste of corned beef and pastrami- both great. My Turkey sandwich was awesome and I would order it again. Next time I will be getting the Reuben as the Corned beef is some of the best I’ve tried and is different than traditional style like at Mannys. I like how they are doing something different, even their cream cheese is yogurt based, how bout that. The rest of the menu looks delicious and will have to try the spreads and whole chicken.
