Shinsen

I visit this superb restaurant from time to time as I love the good air that is characterizes this place. The crew is very welcoming and skilfull. The service is pretty fast. Not to mention, the food you eat is great. I visited many times and I was always joyful. The cost is modest. I suggest this restaurant to to all.

Such a great time here! The atmosphere was peaceful and jazzy, the food was incredible huge kudos to the sushi chef, and the employees and hostess were so kind and welcoming! My daughters friend recommended this place and we decided to stop by, such a great decision. They were a little understaffed, but the hostess really stepped in and served us our water and explained their philosophy to us. In addition, the manager and chef owner stopped by to talk to us which I really admire and it adds a touch of personality that suits the place. I recommend Shinsen for all occasions and for everyone, such a great addition to the Evanston community!

Great new restaurant with attention to detail. Japanese with Thai flair. Upgraded space—very clean with a cool vibe. BYOB for now after opening and wouldn’t mind if it stayed that way. Chef is personable and passionate about his food and the customer experience. Quality is very good now (just after opening) and we expect that it will only get better. We will certainly be going back!

GO HERE!! The food was incredible. The chef spent some time during our meal telling us about his recipe development and cooking processes which made it all the more enjoyable. Very impressed with the robata and homemade steamed rolls. The owners did a great job renovating the inside as well. Currently BYOB but the specialty teas they have are fun to try! Highly recommended, will be going back.

We have been waiting for this place to open since we saw the sign. We finally had a chance to eat here tonight. Love the decor and the food was very good! Additionally, the staff is really friendly and the owners and chef even made time to talk to us and ask us about the food and even wanted our honest opinion. We really appreciated that. Can’t wait to come here again to try other menu items!
