Periyali Greek Taverna

We went recently and found good Greek food in a typical Greek restaurant setting, quiet and friendly. They offer more than the Loop restaurants and at a higher level. The server was both knowledgeable and helpful, suggesting some alternatives to what I asked about. We will return.

I love this place. I find the service is good and the food delicious. I had skate wing from the specials menu and it prepared well. I love their patio in the summer.

Great outdoor space with lush environment, they grow basil and more on their property. They've also recently remodeled the interior/exterior of the restaurant.

We find this place to have some of the most consistently good food anywhere. The food compares very favorably to the places downtown. Their fish and lamb are excellent, and their deserts are also very good. Wine is very reasonable and a good selection of Greek wines. If you like Greek food you do not need to go anywhere else. We usually have pan fried fish and lamb chops by the pound and they cook it consistently to taste. On weekends they have roasted lamb and baby pig. They have just added recently muscles and stuffed calamari with feta cheese and spinach as appetizers which are scrumptious. Our Greek friends also agree that this is one of the best Greek restaurants in Chicago.

disappointed w quality of the grilled octopus appetizer and w the gyros appetizer the gyros meat was dried out. Egg lemon soup was great. how can a greek place mess up gyros? the decor is old and dated. the silverware and flatware were noticeably dirty. the service was wonderful.
