Very nice place
The antithesis of a fast food joint in town, with the long lines and no one inside. No drive thru here, everyone goes inside to order and eat.
Its a remodeled 100+ year old home in Downtown South Holland, enough away from the busy 162nd, with ample parking, that its a joy to park and walk in
The point here is to enjoy the atmosphere, though the best thing about SoHo sweets are their Ice Cream, Coffee and Pastries......though on the other hand, this is not a place to go if you want deli sandwiches or burgers/fries and standard fast food fare. They dont have it. And who needs it, you can get that everywhere else.
What eats they DO have outside of the pastries are light fare, which they call "bites", ala Breakfast and Lunch, mainly muffins, Croissants, and such, and salad/wraps stuff for lunch, which is fine, they are made on premises, not frozen and flash microwaved like BK and McDonalds.....I would prob compare their selections of "bites" maybe with Panara's, but sans the deli sandwiches wich Soho does not have(as of this date anyway).....If you are famished and starving, obviously go to a diner or something, but if you want to partake of a fancy atmosphere, get a great coffee(they make the brew all the ways/options starbucks does), and even great ice cream, this is a unique and very nice place
Very bright and cozy place, has the feel of a tourist eatery say at Mackinac Island, in that its in a quaint old house
The menu is simple, but I think they might be working to expand it, as they are just starting out
They have light fare, ala small little items, for breakfast and lunch, and stop serving food at 3
After 3, up to 8 they serve coffee and pastries, which they also serve all morning and afternoon as well
The coffee options and the pastries/ice cream are prob their best feature and sees like their focus, though its nice that they have those breakfast and lunch options as well. Again, the breakfast and lunch is light fare, its not a place for burgers, fries, and such, or even sandwiches ala Subway
But on the other hand there is wonderful atmosphere, and a nice cozy upstairs with a few couches and tables, wrought iron tables with umbrellas outside, and a fire pit, along with a nice couple bean bag games, so you are partaking of a classy renovation and atmosphere here........what they do have to munch on is really good, and they have a VERY good variety of modes of coffees ala Starbucks. Their house coffee to me tastes like Starbucks house coffee, has that slightly bitter Arabic flavor, which I do love
Its def not fast food, hardly, re the atmosphere or the eats/drinks. Its again like a lake side tourist resort quaint thing. South Holland has all the fast food joints if thats what you want. Then again no one goes inside those places anymore, just drive thru. If you miss the fun and quaintness of actually enjoying eating inside a place(or outside by a fire ring(and no fast food joints have bean bag tosses), and you would like to experience a place like you would enjoy on vacation at a nice place, then check out SoHo Sweets
Delicious ice cream, great environment. I love this place. And, first ever review, so YEAH!!
