This was nothing like cheese steaks I've had in Chicago and I think I have been missing out. This was so simple and flavorful. Whiz, onions, and meat. The meat was chopped so fine that I didn't have to do much to chew. (I appreciate that since I have TMJ.) The only two things that knocked it down a star were: 1. I got burned from the extremely hot whiz on my thumb. (I took my time before eating it since I was taking pics of the sandwich so it was a shock it was still that hot.) 2. The red cream soda tasted like red seltzer water. (I'm assuming the syrup ran out but the ice in the drink saved my burned thumb.) I would totally go back because the taste was amazing and the one staff guy there was really friendly. Bring a sweater in the winter. It was a bit chilly.

I got the #5 Rumble (hoagie) and my friend got the #2 Southpaw (original cheesesteak) we shared a large fresh cut fries. First , we are both stuffed it was more than enough food. Second, ALL the food was delicious. Third, the service was exceptional. This is a place that I will definitely make the trip from Plainfield just to eat.

I love a good Philly Cheesesteak. Balboa’s did not disappoint. I ordered a #3 Brawler with sweet peppers and it was awesome! Their cheesesteaks are made to order and are spot on. Unfortunately, I have to drive and park, which is a problem for quick in and outs for all the businesses in that mall. They have a huge college and HS student population around them, but IMO their meal options are a bit more expensive than other’s near by. I don’t know their rent or other costs, but in their interest, I’d recommend they offer some type of student pricing or frequent diner program to get students in and coming back. Best of luck, Balboa’s!

Growing up in Philly, I've had the chance to get a lot of good cheese steaks. After I got out of the Navy I moved to the Midwest. There have ???? a few good places here and there, but Balboa's is a little slice of home. Not only are the cheese steaks authentic, the taste is simply amazing. Too add to that authenticity, they carry Tastykakes, and Red Cream soda. Balboa's screams eastern Pennsylvania, and I love it. Don't come expecting the Midwest staple of Italian beef, because this isn't it. This is the real deal Philly Cheese steak.
