Loved the food and MAGNIFICENT service!
Simply Wonderful. We were welcomed into the restaurant by Christina and Benoit and from that moment on, it just got better and better. The staff is amazing and we ordered whatever they suggested and wow...everything was amazing. Loved how we got into talking with our neighbors about the food and the experience and how we needed this new restaurant. Loved the French Feel and the extremely friendly atmosphere. Everyone there tonight.. expecting a snow storm...was happy to be out and everyone seemed to be having a great evening as we did. Welcome to the Neighborhood.
I was in the area and heard that there was a new French place in Highland Park, IL. I did not know what to expect. As I sat at the bar the staff had all this nervous energy being new and all but mostly due to the fact that on this 20 degree January night the heat had gone out. I sat at the bar since it faces the kitchen and I knew I would get some warmth emanating from the oven.
What I got at Chez Benoit was a wow meal. Finally a French restaurant in Chicago with a Frenchman at the helm. Everything was delightful a very good steak au poivre accompanied by a fresh salad and pommes frites that were perfectly cooked. A Petit Chou A la Creme for dessert that the chef had just completed and paraded in front of the patrons.
I might add was well worth the parade. The good buy of the evening an espresso was delicious.
By the time I said goodnight the restaurant was warm and accommodating and not because the repairman man had fixed the problem with the furnace. It was due to the fact that this place actually feels like home.
Amazing quenelles de brochet in lobster bisque and choux de la creme! The interior is beautiful and I really liked the french ambiance with the zinc counter and open kitchen.
This place is absolutely brilliant. We’ve been here twice already and they’ve only been open a week. The first time we went we were with friends on the restaurant’s second night open. We had such a great time and the food was so amazing that we made reservations that night to come back for the prix fixe New Years Eve dinner. The prix fixe featured items from the regular menu. It started with ceviche and a raw oyster. Usually I’m not one for oysters but I really enjoyed this presentation. We had an amazing lobster dish with seafood dumpling and lobster bisque. The bisque was so good I asked for extra bread to get every drop out of the bowl. We also had a hen stuffed with sausage and topped with mushroom that was amazing flavorful and moist with a perfect crispy skin. The black truffle risotto was our last dinner course since neither my wife nor I eat beef. It was perfectly al dente. Desert was an absolutely perfect chocolate cake with fresh raspberries in the mousse. The chef came out multiple times to talk with us about how we were enjoying the meal and to discuss a bit about French cooking. I really enjoyed his enthusiasm for the dishes. Everything was executed with such high quality it’s hard to believe they’ve only been open a week. There are well established restaurants that don’t pay anywhere near as much attention to the details of the experience. It was an amazing New Year’s date. I can’t wait to make it back again.
