Once Upon A Bagel

Chicken soup just like bubbe makes. In a classic no frills deli setting for dine in or take away. Some of the best bagels in Chicago --the All seasons egg bagel is excellent. Fresh breads, pastries, salads, and soups. Sunday mornings are crowded and there will be a wait to dine in.

4.5 stars! A bagel shop with a very fairy tale name. Pretzel bagel taste great with a great amount of veggies cream cheese, very generous! Service is fast! The bagel is on a smaller size compared to those in NYC, but it’s a good portion for me! It will be better if the cream cheese could be less salty.

The bagel was good. The eggs were properly cooked. The coffee was the worst I've ever tasted and the hash browns were not done properly. You don't expect fancy when you go here. But you do expect that all of what you get will be done well. For a place that has a lot of self serve. Silverware, condiments, drinks etc. You don't expect to pay not much under Walker Brothers up the street. You used to be able to get a great meal at reasonable prices. Not anymore. The deli items are fantastic if you want to wait in a disorganized line.

Come on a Saturday or Sunday morning and you will see why this place is great. Love the coffee cakes, and the bagels are perfect. The bagels are not to light and fluffy, and at the same time the bagels are not a brick. I have not tried anything outside of the pastries and bagels w/ cream cheese.

Visited the place during Port Clinton Art Festival, place was packed at the time we were there..(noon). Ordered a plain bagel -$1.10 and wanted some cream cheese with it--$3.22.. How can adding cream cheese on a bagel become triple the price??? Something was not priced right..bagel was freshly baked -delicious! Ordered some pastrami by the lbs - also delicious. Staff was very prompt with the order.
