Service is always great. We've eaten at this establishment before and the food has been much better on previous visits. This visit the food was just alright. The gizzards and livers where over breaded, some of the pieces where crispy they were hard to chew. We had to remove the breading from those pieces just to be able to enjoy them.
Pleasant unexpected surprise stop based on billboard ad for foot high pies. Generous home style menu. If you're not careful, you won't have room left for delicious, beautiful pies!
The "foot-high pie" and "as seen on Food Network" billboards got me as I was traveling along. Cute spot, but the waiter wasn't very enthused I was only getting pie and a cup of coffee. The banana cream (and other meringue pies) is beautiful! But a bit too sweet for my tastes. Really nice selection of fruit pies available, as well. $10 for pie, coffee and tip wasn't too bad, I guess, in 2019. Wish I had loved it, but I even though I didn't I would give them another shot to try a meal based on this go.
Been here several times over the years and find the food to be basic and similar each time. The food is served home style, nothing to brag about, but plain and tasty and inexpensive. The pies served here are quite good with a wide variety of tastes. I'm not aware of alcoholic beverages being available, could be though?
Facilities are convenient and clean, service is friendly and prompt. The seating is basic farm style wooden straight back chairs and tables and a few wooden booths. Very plain and basic, sort of 1940 era. So if plain and simple is your thing, here's your place.
Choice of menu meats are wide ranging, mostly fried and everything is country style. Nothing fancy but quite friendly.
This is the sweetest little local cafe, with wonderful home cooked meals, $7.98 lunches and Incredible Pies!!!! I cannot understate the deliciousness of the pies. The restaurant calls them "foot high" but the size is not the real story. My first trip I had the chocolate cream pie and my husband had the apple. The second trip, my husband had the banana cream and I had the strawberry rhubarb. We agreed that they were the tastiest of those flavor of pies we had ever had.
