El Rancherito

This is the best “Mexican” restaurant in Macomb. Being Mexican myself and from Chicago, I know what an “authentic” Mexican experience is like and this is close but not quite. Much of the cuisine here is very americanized. Trust me, it’s still a really good place to eat at, but it’s not the same as other Mexican places. Another downside is that the food is a bit overpriced. The tortas here are $10 and incredibly small. In Chicago, they’re $5 and way bigger. Service is always good to me, even though when you first arrive, you might have to wait a while to get seated because all the workers like hiding in the back. Overall, this is an “okay” spot to eat at.

Service and quality of food has greatly improved after slipping considerably a few years ago. Festive atmosphere. Decent prices are on the high end of affordable. Compared to Guadalajara across town, this is less of a cafeteria feel.
