Kumi Sushi

Still a "go-to" place for great sushi. Kumi Sushi defies all odds and challenges. A sushi place, in a strip mall, in front of a Wal-Mart in the Midwest. Punches well above it's weight class and delivers great food and service.

We love sushi and try to support local restaurants. Staff is always ready to answer questions if your not familiar with something on the menu. The salad with their house made ginger dressing is our fav, but the avocado salad is great too. We love their super volcano roll as it is big enough to share.

I absolutely love Sushi, but it's difficult to find people to come with me. Luckily Kumi has a Chinese menu as well, so I can pig out on sushi while my friends can get Chinese.

I'm not a fain of the 'strip mall setting' but they did a decent job making it their own. The interior has a modern feel to it with LED lighting from corner to corner. The sushi chefs are exposed so you can see them while they work and it's never very busy when we go - even on the weekend.

Appetizers were lacking. We tried the gyoza and tempura mix. The tempura mix consisted of five pieces of tempura and the shrimp didn't taste super fresh. The sushi on the other hand was surprisingly good after the appetizers. A good selection of rolls. But overall, just a little over priced for the quality.

Atmosphere was a bit dark, and could have been a little cleaner.

Servers and staff were friendly and attentive.

We had a wonderful experience! They had wonderful service! We would definitely come back! We love the volcano roll, casino roll and the yummy roll, everything was delicious.
