The building is beautiful bright and clean. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food and drinks are TOP NOTCH. We had french toast with peach ice cream, and the chilaquiles, bloody mary and lots of coffee hound coffee. Cannot recommend enough!
Quite the little gem! Nestled romantically in Lexington! Food was next level.
Went here last night, Friday at 7:45 pm. The restaurant is an old train depot that has changed hands multiple times. They take online dinner reservations, however my gielfriend and I were lucky enough to get a walk in table. Worst case scenario we ended up down at Kemps, not a bad situation at all. They have been doing in house dinner service for 2 weeks, but you wouldn't know it. We were seated quickly, even though we had no reservation. Wait staff was attentive while not being intrusive, they hit that perfect balance of showing up right when we needed them. We ordered the PEI mussels for an appetizer and two beers. The mussels were really good in the usual garlic butter and white wine broth. Served with 4 little toasties on the side that are great for getting more of that garlic butter.
Between our appetizer and main courae, the waitress brought us some oysters to try. I've never had raw oysters, so thst was a really nice gesture. Im afraid I can't rate them but I will say I liked them a lot, they had a really nice clean briney taste.
Main course was the hand cut tagliatelle for my girlfriend, and the roasted half chicken for me. I had a bite of the tagiatelle and it was really good, obviously fresh made pasta in a really great cream and cheese sauce. The roasted half chicken was awesome, it was swimming in some sort of a pan sauce that had quite a bit of herbs in it. The chicken was cooked well, not dry, but still had fantastic crispy salty skin. With the chicken was purple green beans and peaches. The peaches and beans were surprisingly great, I really enjoyed the crunchy sweet combo. We finished the meal with some bread and butter, as we both had extra sauce we could bear to waste.
Total price was 73 dollars before tip. Well worth it. It was very hard to believe that such great food was being served in the old train station in Lexington Illinois, of all places. I expect something like this at one of the nice epiphany restaurants. I would recommend you make a reservation if your out of town, as it currently probably only seats 20 or 30 people at a time.
My family ate at the Lexington Social on Friday night. Made a reservation 2 days early . Reserve early, they fill up. The service and atmosphere was outstanding. I ordered the New York strip, $38, but I under-paid for this. THIS WAS THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EATEN!! Drive to Lexington (15 mins from Bloomington) and order this steak. You can thank me later.
Great food in a nice place. Went there for brunch and had the biscuits and gravy and the chicken biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and pimento cheese. Both were really good. Have had other food from this chef and it's all been fantastic. Highly recommended. A friend said their dinner was really good and their pasta was the best pasta they've had.
