Was a fantastic experience! So good I ate 2 meals there that day! The waitresses were quick and very very friendly! The food was amazing and a great bang for the buck. I can't wait for the next time in town! I'm ready to try the buffet.
Truck stops are the gems of casual dining.
If the food is bad, word of mouth would get them zero business in no time.
Dixie has comfort food, burgers and lighter fare like sandwiches and salads.
The country fried steak, always a favorite, was wonderful. REAL mashed potatoes with flavorful gravy.
Burgers were cooked just right, and the toppings were fresh.
And the pie.....
The pie was so good, we took a whole one home for breakfast tomorrow. Don't judge ;-)
Right at the intersection of Hwy 136 and I-55,
It's an easy exit and right back on the interstate to continue your trip.
Lots of truck parking has a little Casino inside nice choices for shopping. A little pricey but it's usual for a truck stop so just be prepared. Came in around closing time probably about a half hour before they closed salad bar in some of the drinks were already broken down so my choices were limited I had the meatloaf it was a little salty the corn was a little soggy but what do you expect. The only highlight of the place was the waitress that I talk to about my job and her job and that was really nice to be out of the truck and have another person to chit chat with especially female. Maybe next time I'll come a little earlier so I can really enjoy the restaurant.
Good food, decent prices. The breakfast buffet was good. There were pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs, omelets, crepes, fruit, muffins, Danish, etc which is the typical breakfast buffet spread. I did love that their eggs were real eggs from the shell, fried. I do not recommend the water. Don't drink it. It's awful. But it isn't just that restaurant. It's the whole area from what I can tell.
Stumbled in by accident. I was looking for coffee when I noticed to decor getting real cute toward the back of the door I came through. Instantly I was greeted by great smelling food and extremely pleasant waitstaff. I was going to have eggs but THEN I saw the buffet!! Walleye, fried chicken, baked chicken, winks,.pork tenderloin, sirloin tips.....and what a salad bar!!!! The atmosphere is reminiscent of the old Route 66 and has any pictures of bygone eras. This place is awesome, good is good and plentiful especially for the price. It is attached to a Subway, but I recommend trying this home cooking instead of the sandwich!!! Take the family, fill up the car at the gas pump, eat some good grub and head on down more of Historic Route 66
