Hemingway's Zen Garden

Atmosphere was pretty cool. It gets loud, which I don't mind. The wait wasn't long and the waiter was friendly. We got shrimp cocktail for an appetizer which had about eight pieces and tasted very good. I don't recommend the spinach quiche, but the potatoes were yummy. My boyfriend enjoyed his waffles, eggs, sausage, and biscuits.

Went for the jazz brunch. The music was ok but nothing exceptional. Food service was very slow, but when it came it was ok, but again not exceptional. For a bar, the prices are quite reasonable.

We came upon this as we were at the Ofallon farmers market. I ordered bacon eggs potatoes and fruit. Eggs were overcooked. Two slices of hard bacon. One slice of toast. Grapes were the fruit. My dining family had crabby pattie and spinach quiche. They both liked their food. It is a bar atmosphere but casual and friendly. The wait was extreme for food. Not busy but I assumed the cook was inexperienced. The young waiter apologized as he claimed they were short staffed. I'd return to try other food offerings.

A Hidden Gem. Its not much to look at on the outside but the inside is full of character. It has a really nice atmosphere even when there is no band. Our barkeep, Mike, was really friendly and social. You wont find any TVs, just good music and good conversation. The food was really good and it does take a bit to get your food even when they arent busy because it is made to order. My wife said this would totally be her local if we lived in the area because it has a proper pub feel.

My first time eating here. Not sure who the man behind the counter is but when my girlfriend and I came in to grab a bite the food part was closed and he offered to make us something simple since he was watching the bar also and the cooks were done gone. His service was amazing and the food was equally great! Our first visit but wont be out last!
