Old Route 51 South BBQ

Called in an order. Was told 15-20 min Arrived 15min later and paid. Waited another 15 min. Someone finally checked. Order came a few minutes later. The pork was good, but the brisket was on the dry side. Liked the BBQ baked beans.

This restaurant is by far one of the greatest places I have ever eaten at and I am very picky! the staff are super friendly the building is clean and rich with history but most importantly the food….it is truly out of this world! all custom homemade recipes by the owner gave the food a very powerful and different taste from the ordinary stuff of other restaurants like the creamy mac & cheese to the real bison burger with mushrooms covered in a warm country gravy this made me realize what I’ve been missing out on and how food should really taste a true five star review from me

This place is an absolute GEM! I love BBQ, and have truly had it from all over. Old south is one of, if not the best I’ve had…including family BBQ (Sorry to my Grandpa and Dad). I cannot believe this place is in Anna, but we are lucky to have them here in Southern Illinois. The food is delicious, well smoked/spiced, and the sides are by far the best I’ve had at a BBQ restaurant. Baked beans and Mac and cheese (with brisket should tell you enough). The sweet staff and the owner, Don, just round out the absolute perfection that is Old Route 51 South BBQ. I’m forever a fan.

Loved it! Can’t recommend this place enough! I got the burnt ends and hubby got pork steak, no knife needed! So tender and fell apart. Smoke flavor was perfect combination with bbq sauce! I’ve never tasted BBQ sauce that great! Ever this direction will eat here again for sure!

The brisket was delicious, the owners took the time to greet us at our table. The Mac and cheese was probably the best I’ve had. Will definitely be back. Thank you for the great service!
