Excellent food and service. Very polite and super patient while talking to my 5 year old. The food was fresh and flavorful. Good quantity and worth the money. Even my son enjoyed the kebab.
This was the first time trying out the food here. We ordered chicken Karahi and some beef kabab. The chicken karahi was absolutely excellent. Tasted very fresh and perfectly spiced. I appreciate when food isn't overly spiced, well done! And the service was also great! We will be coming back for more soon!
Service is outstanding. They ask you if you had Indian food before and what is the spiciest level you can tolerate. Your water is always refilled and they’re very prompt with the dishes. Restaurant is very clean. Lots of parking. Prices, I’m afraid for what you pay for it doesn’t equal the amount of food you receive. Some of the dishes we got, I felt like for the price the portions should be more especially for $15-16.
-Irani tea - 2/5. For a small or large size, I expect the foam cup to be a lot bigger. Definitely not $4 worth. The small size is like a shot glass size.
-food despite the portion 4/5
-complimentary dessert 5/5
-portion size for plain rice and butter naan 5/5
Overall good - I would go back. I ordered the butter chicken. It was very flavorful, although a bit too salty. Good flavor and spice, but the sauce could be a little bit thicker and creamier. Overall best in the area that I've had so far, compared to the amazing Indian restaurants in Bloomington, IL.
I dinged Kabab King for a few reasons. First, the person I spoke to over the phone to order for takeout didn't really know how much a side of rice cost. He said "it's like $5". "Like $5" doesn't exactly inspire confidence - give me an exact price, please.
Speaking of rice - that is the other reason I dinged a star. Their butter chicken does not include rice. Why? What is with Indian restaurants around Naperville not including rice with curry? Every. Single. Indian restaurant. that I've ever been to in Bloomington (where there are at least 8 Indian restaurants) includes rice with curry dishes. I just don't understand it. The other Indian restaurant nearby (Sara's, which is a poor, abysmal excuse for a restaurant) also doesn't include rice. Please don't be like Sara's.
Still, the rice serving is quite generous - enough for at least two entrees, so it's not a total ripoff for the price.
Overall Kabab King is good and I will continue to dine here. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other menu items.
Overall pleasant first time experience. Here’s what to expect:
Pros:
- Fresh, halal, grilled meats, naans, parathas, and their butter chicken was particularly very good
- Very clean restaurant, plenty of space to host guests, modern decor
- Staff is very attentive and actually wait on you, unlike the majority of Devon (aka Little India) restaurants. The Asian woman was particularly very nice and got us everything we needed
- Conveniently located in Naperville, so no need to drive to Devon!
Potential improvements:
- Prices and portions can improve, pretty high for comparable food and experience, and portions were relatively small, but then again you are paying for the convenience and ambiance
- Replace coke cans with fountain drinks or pitchers that can be refilled, provide ice also
- Chai was good, but again, overpriced. A shot glass of chai was $2
- Bathrooms need renovation, doesn’t match the ambiance of the rest of the restaurant but assuming this will come in due time
Overall, we had a good experience and will definitely go here again especially when weather is bad and we don’t want to drive 40 miles elsewhere!
