Launching Pad Drive-In

I'm so happy that the new owners have a love for the past and the future of the Launching Pad. There still looking to get everything going and getting all the kinks out in starting up this great part of Wilmington history. So far so good. Stop by and try for yourself.

We didn't grab any food, but tried the Dole Whip and a Dirt Worm Sundae... don't ask just try it. Everything is delicious so far, the dole whip brings back memories of Disney for sure. They even brought out the old tables I remember as a kid. Right now they're operating kind of a test kitchen/soft opening so be patient, but the staff are friendly and employed locally. Enjoy!

Some of the best pulled pork I've ever had! And it's local.
Do yourself a favor and get a Dole Whip. I live 45 min away and will make the drive any time just for this!

Great food and atmosphere. They're handling it right by keeping the menu simple until they have each item nailed. Everything our family ordered was great.

A wonderful piece of Route 66 nostalgia. The last time I was here in 2002, this was the local hangout for good food and shakes. After those owners sold it, it went through a bad spell for a decade but the new owners are dedicated to restoring it to its proper glory.

It has a great souvenir and gift shop, a small Route 66 museum in the back, and very friendly owners.
