Artisan Pub

Nice neighborhood feel!! Good beer. Good walleye. Not amazing but good.

This unassuming locale is probably the best hidden gem of South Beloit. What looks like an average pub on the outside serves up some of the best local beers (Off Kilter, brewed in S. Beloit) and best local chef talent. My family and I had a quick meal of appetizers and were completely blown away with the complexity of flavors and textures. Our top recommendations are by far the fried calamari (perfectly cooked, not rubbery, with a spicy dipping sauce) and the cheese curds (who knew a fried ball of cheese could have such light texture and fabulous flavor). The beers were also refreshing, the waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. You'd be foolish to miss a meal at this place.

Food was great. We had stuffed mushrooms and bruschetta for an appetizer. My meal came with soup, lobster bisque was phenomenal. I ordered ribs and was, admittedly, nervous. ribs are hard to do well. These we're juicy and tender. Sauce was good. I prefer the sauce to caramelize a little in my home cooking, but this was still very good.

Beer selection is great.

Only one waitress for a Saturday afternoon, which seemed appropriate. It resulted in slightly slower service times, but not unreasonably so.

If you have not visited the Artisan Pub you are missing out! Thursday night Tacos are out of this world. We also had the Duck Poppers and the special Seafood Alfredo. AMAZING! If you are looking for great food at an amazing price, Artisan is the place to be.
