Bar Louie - The Olivia

My family used to love this place, but after our most recent visit I'm not sure we'll be back. I had often seen reviews criticizing their slow service, but we had never had an issue until tonight. I don't blame our server, as she was frequently visiting our table for refills on our drinks, but I'm guessing the kitchen was understaffed or under-trained for the evening. However, that isn't our primary issue. The problem is that they changed the menu since our last visit. Due to kid schedules, we haven't been here in a few months, but we had visited probably once a month or more for about a year prior. We loved their southwest burger, and my wife and I would substitute the portabella mushroom for the beef. Sadly, they no longer have the southwest as an option nor the portabella. They now have the "impossible" burger that everyone seems to be pushing these days, which is fine, but not the same. The Tuesday night $5 burger deal is still a very good deal ($8 if you do the "impossible") and the blue burger I had tasted fine, but I can't say it's enough to make us drive out of our way for a meal like the items no longer on the menu did.

I really enjoy the VooDoo pasta here. This time I had our server pick something from their menu. The jalapeno honey chicken he picked was amazing. I really like the atmosphere here and the staff is great.

Pricing and selection is good. But what happened to the art of being a bartender? Their just order takers here. Which is fine, I'm sure like most restaurants, they have too many responsibilities to be in front of their guests. But this is what I look for when it comes to going back to a place. So unfortunately, I wont be back.

Great restaurant. I celebrated a birthday there and they accommodated us very well. The atmosphere was nice. It was around Christmas time so the decor was on point. Classy but causal feel. Food, drinks and dessert all were great. They usually have pool tables but not at this location. Still a great place for a quick meal or a celebration...
