Great food, original menu and fresh ingredients. Can't ask for more in a local restaurant. Drinks are a little pricey but not a showstopper
First of all, I travel a decent amount and it's hard to find a delicious restaurant that doesn't taste generic or isn't a chain. Rail is the exception. Amazing meals, comfortable-chic atmosphere, and love in the food makes this home-turned-hipster-kitchen a must-eat for all Westfield visitors. Get the meatloaf! You won't regret it.
This is hands down one of my favorite (if not my favorite) restaurants in the area. I’ve been here multiple times, and I’ve never been disappointed. Food is always good. Service is great. Make sure to make a reservation if you are going for dinner. My husband and I love the salads, the cottage pie, and the salmon. People we have come with have also enjoyed the pork chop.
I love that you can sit at the chefs counter counter and watch the magic in the kitchen and that they change the menu seasonally. Must try. You won’t be disappointed!
On a cold winter night the cottage pie and meatloaf dishes were a modern spin on Midwest comfort food. And their butternut squash soup was amazing. I was sorry when I emptied the bowl.
Quick tip. If you go, request a table upstairs. It is quiet and comfortable. Downstairs is a little crowded and noisy. - During the summer it is probably very pleasant outside.
Be sure to make a reservation. They fill up fast!
And save room for desert. One piece of chocolate cake split 4 ways was just the right amount of sweet.
Went on a Saturday night with reservations for the dining room instead of the chef's counter. I'm glad we picked the dining room because the stools at the counter looked uncomfortable. We sat downstairs (not sure if there's upstairs seating?) in the 5 or 6 table dining room. The service was good. We ordered two entrees, the pork chop and the steak, and decided to split them. Hindsight being 20/20, two pork chops would have been fine. It's not that the steak was bad, it's that the pork chop was that good! It really stole the show and is probably the best pork chop I've ever had. The creamed spinach gnocchi it was served with was spectacular as well. We both really enjoyed the meal. There's lots of other items on the menu that look interesting, but since Rail is a little higher priced than normal, it may be a little while before I go back, unfortunately.
