Great family atmosphere, a true staple of the Danville experience (if you want to call it that). Food isn't anything spectacular but as long as you go into it knowing not to have high expectations you can easily have an enjoyable dining experience. The salad bar is more than adequate, the burgers and steak have always been decent-to-good, and everything else I have tried has at least been edible.
But, really, you're not coming here for the food. The Andy Griffith show plays on TVs scattered throughout and adds a mid-twentieth-century feel that is comforting. The service has always been stellar and friendly. It is an extremely kid-friendly place and yet I have never had anyone--child or otherwise--be loud in any way.
If you're in town it is worth going twice, and if you're disappointed both times then I can't help you. But for the rest of us it's a very relaxing, comforting, affordable experience.
Good service and nice little atmosphere. Awesome sweet potato fries, fried chicken was good but could use more seasoning. Overall a good fun Saturday lunch.
I have wanted to eat here for a long time. Well today i finally did It was totally worth the trip. The food was great and the service was just as good. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. The dessert was amazing I got Aunt Bees' Sugar Creme Pie. The entire place is decorated with memorabilia from the Andy Griffith Show.
I took my Mom and my nephew there for lunch while they were visiting from out of town. They loved it so much that we went back again. I had the strawberry salad which was very good. We had the pretzel nuggets and beer cheese a few times. My nephew tried the chicken fried chicken, the 3 piece fried chicken and Aunt Bee"s fried chicken. He could not decide which one he liked best. They continually have an episode of the Andy Griffith show playing on the old time TV'S throughout the restaurant.
Awesome, reminds you of the good old days when times were better. Laid back, no worries about anything, plus the food is good too. They have some souvenirs, and the walls are covered with photos of everyone from the show
