Despite my initial hesitancy to eat at a white castle, we ordered some classic and veggie sliders. The veggie sliders were surprisingly yummy and make for great meat-free fast food. Onions were nicely caramelized. You're not getting anything fancy here, but for $0.70 a slider, can you really complain?
I haven't had white castle in ages and we stopped by for lunch. I saw that they had the new impossible burger sliders (no meat patty) and I had to try them. As a vegetarian, fast food options are pretty limited, even more so for vegans. I'm happy that more places are starting to offer these kinds of options! The taste was honesty really good as well. I've had worse veggie patties from sit down restaurants and that's saying a lot. I highly recommend to try the impossible burger - in fact, my friend who isn't a vegetarian tried it and thought it was very comparable to the regular sliders.
4.5. Stars. Come on its white castle! Everything on the menu is good! Always get good timely service at the Merrillville and Hobart locations.
The food was fine however. We thought we were purchasing the 20 burgers for $10.00 and asked for 40. Thinking the amount would be $20.00 plus the extra amount for cheese. We were charged 40.00 dollars. Not being told that the special was for the app orders only. I question the amount with the cashier first she said nothing. We then spoke with what appeared to be the manager. She was very dry in tone and asked what was the problem. We explained then she told us it was app only purchase. Then she said so what do you want to do? Keep them or what? The burgers were in process of being made. No one offered a better deal. I later realize Icould have purchased a crave case and paid a lesser amount. I was disappointed. Bad customer service.
I'm giving it a 4 because the staff are wonderful, polite, and friendly. They also seem happy which to me speaks to the corporation as a whole. Keep up the good work. Food, what can you say. Quintessential White Castle
