Freddy's Steak House - Hammond, Indiana

The food was really great. Our waitress was super. The decor is, as some other posters have said, a bit dated. I didn't mind it, I liked the classic, cozier atmosphere. The music selection was a perfect mix of old and new.

The only thing I did not enjoy, was the regulars commentating on my fiance and myself and our food order! Not to US, mind you, but among themselves. We were in a booth, they were at the table next to us. It was just odd.

Definitely worth the price, it is a filling meal and they dont try to 'turn and burn' you

Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Decor was old and worn, reminded me of an old 1970's gangster hangout. Service was fantastic and our server Jessica was an absolute pleasure to have take care of us. Great prices for the amount of food and quality. We did visit on a Monday evening and according to Jessica Mondays are typically slow and perhaps on a busier night the food would be of higher quality as we found out apps appeared to have been sitting around as they are probably prepared several hours prior. Overall a decent place to grab a good steak.

Always heard about this historical place from others but for some reason never went there. We stopped by for Friday dinner. 2 orders of their "famous" poor boy steak sandwiches and a perch dinner. All of us were very happy with the food and what pushes this to a 5 star rating is the ambience. It is the old style steak house of yesterday (still serving Old Style) that brings that ole timey feeling. Gonna come back and try the steaks. Prices? Not cheap nor outrageous. UPDATE: Came back again on a Friday night and ordered another steak sandwich. Excellent again. Maybe some steaks next time.
