Veleros Restaurant and Cantina

Beware of 1 star reviews claiming the prices are too high. This isn’t typical Mexican street food it’s fine dining and the food and drinks are fabulous plus the service is great. It is the best Mexican food you can get. Tuesday is half priced tacos. That is the best day to experience the food for cheap eats.

Food is true Mexican cuisine. Not your run-of-the-mill fast Mexican food. It's the equivalent of fine Italian dining so don't expect Olive garden prices or all you can eat. But it's definitely worth the extra money because the quality of food is top-notch. I'd recommend it to anybody and everybody.

Nice atmosphere. Sat at the bar for taco Tuesday. Half price tacos. I had the steak tacos. They were small with corn tortillas. No sides were included but the tacos were great. Ordered chips and three different salsas. The salsas were great. Not what I expected but very delicious. Bartender was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Menu is pricey but I will return.

Treat yourself to one of the finest new restaurant openings in NW Indiana. Veleros will impress you with its innovative approach to Mexican cuisine. Chef Saul & Samuel (Proprietors) are at the helm. You’ll be especially pleased with the bar program; they take the margarita experience a step above everyone else (in the area). It’s like they took an experience in Chicago’s center city & brought it straight to you.

Also impressive is how their families complement the experience by being part of the service.

In short, Veleros will likely be your new favorite restaurant. Enjoy!
